Frankfurt’s Christmas market is considered one of the oldest and largest in Germany. There are over 200 colorfully decorated stalls offering everything from tasty treats, gifts, Christmas ornaments and the usual festival knickknacks.
The markets date back to 1393, and for a long time only local merchants were allowed to sell their goods there. Today you can still find many local specialties. It also used to be tradition to do all your Christmas shopping at the markets. Many stalls still sell gifts for children, winter hats and gloves, handmade crafts, and local souvenirs.
In terms of the visitor numbers and size, the Frankfurt christmas Market is one of the most important Christmas markets in Germany. The elaborate and creative stand decorations, the scenis surroundings of the Römerberg and Paulsplatz and the huge christmas tree also make it one of its most beautiful.
Today is the last day before everything is close for Christmas.
I am yet to recover from my fever, flu and cough but not to missed this opportunity to shoot some videos as promised, even though it’s raining, cold and wet.
So here it is.
A Frankfurter Weihnachtsmarkt 2012
So..for almost 25 days the market was open and that was the first time i really went through all stalls..and did buy something to eat..and for the other 24 days..i dont even care to stop by.
Why? Entahlah..I dont know…perhaps when you live just 7 minutes away..you dont really appreciate the existence of such market.
Anyway, for all my christian friends..i wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Ohhh…and Happy Holiday!
