Appointment oh Appointment

07/02/2011

Definition: Stipulation; agreement; the act of fixing by mutual agreement.

Hence:: Arrangement for ameeting; engagement; as, they made an appointment to meet at six.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I’m writing this in response to a huge debate with my wife about an appointment with a doctor in a private hospital today. Its started when i asked her about the exact time of our appointment and yet one and half hour later were still waiting endlessly. So what is the exact point of making an appointment? I hate waiting and i dont pay the hospital to keep me waiting. I have an enterprises to run rather than spending my time waiting.

In business, when making a meeting appointment at 3.00pm then you’ll be meeting at 3.00pm. But in hospital, when your appointment with the doctor been set at 3.00pm, its mean you come and get a waiting number at 3.00 pm. The exact time you’ll be meeting the doctor, if you’re lucky enough is an hour later.

Here is my argument – If the hospital cant really fix the exact time, just tell us so. Why cant they tell us like this, “Sir! your appointment next week with the doctor is on 16 Februari before noon. Please come as early as you can and first come will be first served sir”. I will be happy to hear that rather telling us “Sir! your next appointment with the doctor is on 16 Februari at 10.30am”. What do you expect when you hear that…yess, you will be meeting the doctor at 10.30am. But unfortunately, when you showed up at 10.00am, you will be given waiting number and you will see your doctor at least an hour later if youre lucky.

My question is..why cant they really set an “appointment” as if a real like business appointment? ENTAHLAH..I dont know

at times appointments are such a vicious chain cycle. I for one hate waiting and i do agree when u say at a particular time – which means, i will meet u at that exact time. Unfortunately, i think when it comes to doctor patient situations, at times the patient ada byk sgt la ceritanya ie nak tambah symptom sakit dan sebagainya. That or they did discover something new. Oh well, the doctors shld know by now the average time for him/her to deal with each patient n extra time for just in case situations as well or else when the timing runs off and goes into another patient's appt schedule, that is when everyone else's appt will be way later; a chain reaction – just my 2 cents.

Yes, exactly. The doctor should know the average time he or she should attend for the specific type of illness and add another 5 or minutes time to prepare before meeting another patient.

Since all patient already had an appointment, so the can plan the exact time beforehand.
