Coldplay – Live In Frankfurt 2011

21/12/2011

I’ve been waiting to watch Coldplay Live for quite sometimes. The opportunity came when the band have their Myloto Xyloto Tour in Germany. Frankfurt was scheduled for 20th December and the ticket open for sale on 21st October and instantly sold out. I was able to get the ticket 2 weeks later from the internet with a totally different price from its original price. As you can see the face value is 73.25 Euro which we bought at 110.00 Euro for each ticket that cost us almost 250.00 euro for 2 tickets including taxes and delivery charges.

Me and wife standing outside the hall of Frankfurt Festhalle at 6.00pm with thousand others and the gate to the hall was open at 6.35pm. After a thorough security check everyone is getting a wristband . I dont have any idea what it is that thing at first but i do aware that this is some kind of an electronic device which could emit light or something but i had no proof of that.

We manage to get into the hall at 6.45 and the front row is already occupied so we just make do at 15 meters away from the stage. It’s a good view though if we can peek through heads of tall German’s guys (too bad being a short Asian standing among thousand of tall Germans).

The stage was open at 8.00 by an U.K singer (I barely remember her name). She puts a quite a good show. After a countless song and quite a good minutes of waiting, the wristband starting to lit-up and the band came on stage to the theme song from the film ‘Back to the Future’ and opened the show with ‘Hurts Like Heaven’ – taken from their new album ‘Mylo Xyloto’. The crowd went crazy.

The wristband is indeed an electronic device with LED lights which remotely controlled and will lit-up in various occasion during the song and it blink at different speed as well to blend with the beat of the song. It was a very cool stuff. It’s called “Xyloband” after their album name to replace the regular “glowband” use in a concert before. Since it was controlled remotely, it stop blinking after the show ended. But according to some report from the web it did lit up occasionally several days later.

Let see it on video how “Xylobands” perform.

Its a revolution in concert show. The most spectacular moment of the concert came when the group performed latest single ‘Paradise’ as the wristbands blinked a multitude of colors during the song’s chorus.

I did capture few photos and a video using my blackberry.

"Hurts Like Heaven"

"Lost!"

"Lost!"

Apologies for the bad video quality. Shot using my blackberry.

It was a very good show with the best sound system and the spectacular lightshow by a superband like Coldplay. It is really worth the ticket.

It was a great night indeed.

    Hi Emelie,

The bands is given for free at the concert entrance. It came with the ticket. Perhaps with a sweet smile you can ask them for two. Good luck!
